House Resolution 288

Now that CAIR's candidate Keith Ellison has been elected to Congress from Minnesota's 5th District, the next order of business is to get Congressman Ellison selected to the Judiciary Committee.
There he would be strategically positioned to support John Conyers's proposed HR 288 which under the guise of protecting all religions is actually a bill to provide special protection to Islam not afforded to Christians, Jews or members of other faiths.

Here are the provisions:

Whereas the word Islam comes from the Arabic root word meaning “peace” and “submission”;

Whereas there are an estimated 7,000,000 Muslims in America, from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, forming an integral part of the social fabric of America;

Whereas the Quran is the holy book for Muslims who recite passages from it in prayer and learn valuable lessons about peace, humanity and spirituality;

Whereas it should never be official policy of the United States Government to disparage the Quran, Islam, or any religion in any way, shape, or form;

Whereas mistreatment of prisoners and disrespect toward the holy book of any religion is unacceptable and against civilized humanity;

Whereas the infringement of an individual’s right to freedom of religion violates the Constitution and laws of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

1 Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

(1) condemns bigotry, acts of violence, and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors, and citizens of the Islamic faith;

(2) declares that the civil rights and civil liberties of all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith, should be protected;

(3) recognizes that the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect; and

(4) calls upon local, State, and Federal authorities to work to prevent bias-motivated crimes and acts against all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith.

This Saturday, Keith Ellison who received $50,000 from CAIR in campaign donations, will be the keynote speaker at CAIR's annual dinner. The former Nation of Islam member will have a hard time of balancing his constituents needs with those of his Masters at CAIR.

Why is CAIR afraid of Americans exercising their right to FREE SPEECH? Are they afraid that an open dialog on Islam will expose its Satanic Verses?

In a country where Muslims burn our flag, why are we giving Islam special protection?
Should the Quran, which promotes the killing of nonbelievers, be included in the same category as the Bible or the Torah?

CAIR has previously stated that it wants to replace the Constitution with Sharia law.
Is this the first step?

What's the best way for anyone to promote their agenda? Get them elected.
Sounds like they are on their way to make it a special circumstance concerning Islamic protection.

I wonder where Islam falls under the seperation of church and state.
Why should they receive special status. When they are taking the Christian God out of the class room, from college campass, from Christmas.

Are there not laws already enforced to protect religious freedoms?
I will look into this further crusader thanks for the heads up.

I'd like to know that as well. Where is the ACLU yelling and crying about "seperation of church and state"? Guess that only applies to Christians, huh?

What's next? Human sacrifice on the Capitol building steps?

Hiya AC..yup this is the first step and we have welcome the tyrants at the Gate..now all they have to do is enslave us.

ftgf...Yes, this was originally proposed in early 2005. Now that the Democrats control Congress and if Ellison can get on the judiciary committee, there is hope in passing this nonbinding resolution.

This really angers me, AC! It's totally unbelievable that something like this is even up for consideration. We're thinking about protecting the very people who have it in for us? Way to go, America! #@%&#@!

CAIR should be illegal. We are at war with everything they stand for. Although I heard about this somewhere else, I'm still amazed and outraged!

AC

Elizabeth is fairly typical of most deranged leftists in that she takes the accounts of Amelikites and Joshua out of context. Moreover, it is almost certain this woman has made any major study of the text or Jewish traditions.

This is yet another case of a deranged hard leftoid who speaks about topics she knows little about. Who are today's Amelikites this remains unkown and the identity of the descendants of Canaanites also remains unknown.

There is zero connection between historical Phillistines and modern Pseudostinians who remain Arab invaders with a lengthy colonial history and legacy. The current illogic would make me a Canarsie Indian.

I dont see why Muslims shouldnt enjoy such protection, as long as Christians and all other religions are entitled to the same...

Freedom now...I have always advocated that Muslims in this country should be afforded all the rights non-Muslims are in Islamic countries.
Seems only fair doesn't it?

Thanks beak..I was trying to locate what reference Elizabeth was referring to. I know in the Torah there are more books included then there is in what Christians call "The Old Testament".
I have never seen any reference in any Jewish book that calls for the killing of non-Jews.
I wonder how many Jewish homicide bombers are currently training in the Middle East today?

i saw your question at beak's, a.c. - a quick study of 1 samuel 13 will give you some of your answers, but elizabeth is somewhat bizarrely mistaken.

perhaps she can clarify her statement.

if saul had been obedient to G-d when samuel enlightened him, we would not be in this fix today. reference amelekites. everyone who has sprung from the loins of these people is the reason we are now going through what we are today. it's spiritual all the way.

The Amalikites were the people of Haman, who wanted to kill all the Jews in Babylonia under Ahaserus, it's in Esther. G*D had a specific reason to destroy the Amalakites and the Canaanites. But in the cases of Caleb, Rahab and Uriah, amongst others, G*D welcomes the gentiles in with open arms.
So, Elizabeth's statement is fallacious and disengenious!

Whereas the word Islam comes from the Arabic root word meaning “peace”

What's that? According to the tenets of Islam, there will be no peace until Islam dominates the world and subjugates the dhimmis.

I understood Elizabeth that your idea comes from the Talmud...which is Rabinnic commentary. The last I checked commentary is not considered scripture. The next time you see a jewish person with a bomb strapped to them, dressing like a woman and blowing up other jews or anyone else for that matter let us know. Otherwise stick to stuff you know. Which probably isn't much.

At 7:48 PM, Blogger elmers brother said...

let me help you Liz.

This usually refers to the Babylonian Talmud which was completed about 500 CE. It is a collection of the discussions and decisions of the Rabbis from about 300 to 500 CE. These discussions were an elaboration and clarification of the laws of the Mishnah, which formed the basis of Talmudic debates. The Palestinian Talmud (300-400 CE) is a less influential work as the discussions were cut short by persecutions.

aow - don't forget - the word "ala" in the hebrew, used 12 times in the o.t. means "a curse". we also know the number 12 is a divine number to the G-d of israel.

12 months

12 hours day

12 hours night

12 divisible by four or three which are also divine numbers.

there is much about numbers we've yet to see. i'm excited.

12 is the number of administration or government.
I need to look up those numbers again. 8 is the number of new beginnings, of course 7 is the number of G*D. And it is the perfect number. 6 is the number for man, because he is made in the "image" of G*D.
Beaker- I've been reading it for about 40 yrs., I hope I've learned something!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

It is true I am not a Jewish studies scholar. However it is not hard to find examples:

Exodus 32:27

"...Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate thorught the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor."

We could split hairs about the intepretation of Scripture and Jewish law etc. The point I was making is that it is easy to find intolerant passages in religious texts. Even Jesus said some things that could be described as intolerant. People interpret religious texts in widely different ways. That's why it's always dangerous to take your own literal interpretation of someone else's religion and assume that the believers have all interpreted it the same way as you and as each other.

It's interesting that some people here are criticizing me for my lack of expertise in Jewish texts yet this blog goes on and on about Islam and as far as I can tell no one here qualifies as an expert about Islam.

"I would prefer, as a Christian, to live amongst the Jews of Israel, I'm less likely to be the victim of rape"

I'm pretty sure that isn't true.

It's hard to know what the real incidence of rape in different countries is since report rates do not reflect actual rates. However, from the available evidence, it appears that rape is most prevalent in South Africa, Kenya, and some other sub-Saharan countries, which are not, in fact, majority Muslim.

elizabeth - sorry missy, but you're trying to pee down our necks in hopes we think it's raining. you are not preaching to the choir - we are aware of the izzie nature.

Elizabeth- You have obviously swallowed a camel while trying to strain out a gnat! I have read the koran, I didn't go in with any preconceptions. I was appalled at the backwards treatment of women, and animals. The stupidity and bias against non-arabs. The foolish ideas that were stated as fact, and because Mohammad wrote it, it HAS to be believed, i.e. the sun sets in a muddy puddle in a swamp. Oh, and black African's heads look like raisins! Hello? Are you there? On the other hand, the British doctor who discovered the circulatory system, was a student of the Bible and the statement by G*D to Moses, i.e. "The life is in the blood." inspired him to look at the blood system and how it works.
Seems to me that there is logic to be found in the Bible, but balderdash in the koran. Therefore the koran is a false writting, fit only to be tinder!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Try living in Israel as a Christian and see how you like it...you might be surprised to find that there's no equality of religion there...
