Iran vote "decisive defeat" for president

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's biggest reformist party said on Monday President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had suffered a "decisive defeat" in nationwide elections last week due to his government's "authoritarian and inefficient methods".
Full story here.

Maybe the people of Iran had had enough of their President's threats to Israel or his constant denial of the Holocaust?
Maybe they were tired of the mandatory demonstrations? Flagburning before 6 a.m. can only be so much fun.

Maybe they just used commonsense.

But whatever the reason, the people of Iran have confirmed the landslide victory of former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani in the Experts' Assembly elections.

According to the final results, carried by all local news agencies, Rafsanjani gained twice as many votes as Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi, the candidate for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's faction.

Rafsanjani has already issued a statement and thanked the people for having enabled him to achieve the landslide victory which he termed as a victory for democracy.

'This is a source of pride for me that through your valuable votes, I finished first in such important elections,' Rafsanjani said in the statement, carried by ISNA news agency.

The moderate Rafsanjani is a fierce opponent of Ahmadinejad.

Now before we get all mushy over "Iranian Democracy" let's not forget that hundreds of reformist weren't even allowed to participate.
There will be no big change in Iran's policies.
The Mullahs retain full control over Iran no matter which party wins in the elections. The choice basically broke down between a "moderate" Islamic nut and Iran's psychopathic hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Still though...I cannot help but vicariously enjoy the pie in Ahmadinejad's face.

Heeeheeeheee!

I'll bet the Iranian folks are sick of working three jobs in order to barely eat!

I wonder if we will see Ahmadinejad tone it down a bit now? Probably not.

I truly do wish this meant the end of Ahmadinijad, but the only way for that to happen is for a revolution to happen in Iraq. Well, I guess we can wish for that, but he's going to keep on keeping on until he's taken out one way or the other.

AC,
If Dinny demand a recount, we'll know for sure he's a democrat.

In reality, it is the Mullahs who control all power in Iran. Ahmadinejad's power comes directly from them.
I wouldn't expect much change but it still good to see Ahmadinejad get his face slapped now and then.

You got distracted with make-believe today, AC.

You did what Uncle Sam wanted you to do - not pay attention to real news.

While you're making something out of nothing, Iran announced they were dumping to dollar.

As I posted in my blog the Mullahs of Iran had no use for John Brown types. Once in power the clerics liquadated Brown and his insane types.

However, it never is really about Iran. Brown has a deranged need to side with any enemy of the USA and the Jews because he is a cartoon commie.

All hail the progressive dope dealers from the Bekaa Valley. The rest of us look at Islamonazi Hezbollah as a Narcoterrorist outfit
but John Bwown uses their flag as his symbol. Then he wants to lecture us about the plantation. What is next on the John Brown drug pusher veneration tour. Will he claim that the Black Panthers had nothing to do with drugs and prostitution.

This is cheap comedy

It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings.

The fat lady being REVOLT of the population. Hopefully, the Iranian government will cave in and be taken over by a more moderate government there.
